Nobody talks of entrepreneurship as survival, but that’s exactly what it is and what nurtures creative thinking. ~ Anita Roddick
In this day and age, with all of the apps and ‘in the cloud’ software available for small businesses and entrepreneurs, what else can help when you feel worn down to the point of exhaustion?
Hire a virtual assistant.
Hiring outside help doesn’t have to mean you have someone else hanging around your office space. There is an assistant available for any type of work you may need done, just make sure you check them out first!
Learn new habits.
Running your own business, even with outside help, can be exhausting if you don’t look after yourself. Make a checklist of your diet, exercise (helps beat stress), sleep or lack of, outside responsibilities. There will always be times when other responsibilities – such as family, are non-negotiable. Plan for this by taking extra special care of yourself and paying attention to warning signs that tell you you’re doing too much.
Plan and organize.
Some of us are better at this than others. If you aren’t the type to make notes daily and lists of things to be done, access online software that can do this for you. There are lots of options from simple to do lists to full project management systems. Some swear this has been a lifesaver for their business and their free time.
Time off.
Sounds simple, doesn’t it, but when you look at the hours you are putting into your business compared to the hours you are giving yourself, who is the winner? While you may say that either way you win, in the long run both your business and your health will suffer.
Relax.
Look into relaxation techniques – meditation, Tai Chi, yoga or just laying in the hammock on a nice day enjoying the outdoors or reading a book.
What do you do to beat the fatigue of working those extra hours to take your business where you want it to go?
